Journal History

In Dey 1370 (December 1991–January 1992), a committee of faculty members selected from the Faculty of Administrative Sciences and Economics at Ferdowsi University of Mashhad decided to establish a journal within the faculty. In Aban 1371 (October–November 1992), this decision was put into practice through the appointment of an Editor-in-Chief, a Managing Director, and members of the Editorial Board.

On 2/7/1373 (September 24, 1994), Dr. Mohammad Hossein Mahdavi-Adeli submitted the first application for a publication license to the Islamic Guidance Office in Mashhad. Subsequently, on 8/10/1377 (December 29, 1998), a publication license numbered (10352/124) was issued for the journal. Meanwhile, the first issue of Knowledge and Development had been published in Bahman 1373 (January–February 1995). Finally, after years of continuous and persistent efforts by the Managing Director, the Editor-in-Chief, and other respected contributors, the journal obtained scientific-research status from the esteemed Commission for the Evaluation of Scientific Journals of the country in Ordibehesht 1383 (April–May 2004).

Over approximately twenty years since its first publication, the scientific-research journal Knowledge and Development has published a considerable number of scientific-research articles in various fields, including economics, management, political science, accounting, and Iranian and international law. In this regard, it has played a significant role in improving the level of scientific research in the country.

In light of the resolutions of the esteemed Commission for the Evaluation of Scientific Research Journals concerning the separation of journals and their movement toward greater specialization, the members of the Editorial Board recently decided to implement this policy, considering that each scientific-research journal may publish one additional journal title for every five years of its publication history. Accordingly, following discussions and consideration of the matter in several meetings and obtaining approval from the esteemed Commission for the Evaluation of Scientific Journals of the country, it was decided that Knowledge and Development would henceforth retain its scientific status while being published under three new scientific-research titles, as follows:

1. The Regional Economics and Development biannual journal, with Dr. Mostafa Salimifar as Editor-in-Chief.

2. The Monetary and Financial Economics biannual journal, with Dr. Mahmoud Houshmand as Editor-in-Chief.

3. The Legal Economics biannual journal, with Dr. Abdolreza Javan Jafari Bojnordi  as Editor-in-Chief.

Accordingly, all scholars, professionals, and distinguished members of the country's academic community who specialize in various fields of economics and may have manuscripts to contribute are invited to submit their articles through the university's scientific journals submission system and help us advance the scientific objectives of the country and the Islamic community.

This journal is published in collaboration with the Iranian Commerce Association.

Scope of Studies

The Monetary and Financial Economics journal (formerly Knowledge and Development) publishes only specialized articles in the fields of monetary and financial economics.

Open Access Policy

The Monetary and Financial Economics journal is an open-access journal, meaning that all its content is freely available to users without charge. Users are permitted to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of articles, or to use them for any other lawful purpose without requesting prior permission from the publisher or the author.

This journal provides immediate open access to its content based on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

Copyright

• Under the open-access license of the Monetary and Financial Economics journal, authors retain the copyright to their content.

• Authors grant Ferdowsi University of Mashhad the right to publish their articles and identify itself as the original publisher.

• Authors also grant any third party the right to use the articles freely, provided that the integrity of the articles is maintained and the original authors, citation details, and publisher are clearly identified.

Sources of Journal Revenue

Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, as the publisher, covers the relevant expenses by allocating a designated budget for each published issue of the journal, based on the journal's ranking in the annual evaluation announced through the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology's Scientific Journals Portal. These expenses include the establishment and maintenance of the journal's infrastructure, the review and peer-review processes, copyediting, typesetting, and the preservation of the article archive.

Another source of revenue for the journal is the fee collected from authors whose articles have been accepted for publication. This source of revenue has no influence whatsoever on the decisions of the Editorial Board members.

Fees

No fees are charged for submitting or reviewing manuscripts. However, if an article is accepted, the author(s) must pay a fee of four million rials online to the account of the Research Vice-Presidency of Ferdowsi University of Mashhad to cover part of the copyediting and publication costs.

Article Publication Fee Waiver Policy

Since this journal charges a fee only for accepted articles, it does not have a discount policy.

Direct Marketing

No direct marketing activities are conducted by this journal.

Similarity Checking System

To prevent plagiarism, the Monetary and Financial Economics journal checks Persian-language texts using the Hamyaab Scientific Text Similarity Detection System and English-language texts (the extended English abstracts of articles) using iThenticate.

All manuscripts undergo similarity checking before being sent for peer review. If the similarity percentage exceeds 20%, the manuscript will be excluded from the review process.

Privacy Statement

Names and email addresses entered on the journal's website are used exclusively for the purposes of the journal. They will not be made available for other purposes or accessible to any other individual or organization.

Digital Preservation Policies for Articles

Journal Website Archiving

All electronic content, including the website and articles, is archived using two methods. PDF versions of all articles are available online on the journal's website for readers to access. A copy of the same content is also stored on another server as a backup.

If a problem occurs with the journal's website and article information is lost, each article will be republished online on the journal's website from the backup server within a period of 24–36 hours.

Indexing Databases

The metadata and abstracts of articles published in the Monetary and Financial Economics journal are indexed in several indexing databases. In addition to the metadata, PDF versions of all articles are archived in the Islamic World Science Citation Center (ISC) and the Iranian Scientific Journals System.

Self-Archiving

All authors may archive their articles in their personal systems or on their institutional websites immediately after publication on the journal's website.

Acknowledgments

Authors should acknowledge the institutions or individuals who have contributed to the development of their research. If applicable, the research funder should also be identified and acknowledged in this section.
