Reviewers Guide

1. Completing Reviewer Profile Information

All reviewers are kindly requested to carefully complete and update their personal and professional information when logging into their reviewer profile for the first time. This information includes:

  • Institutional affiliation

  • ORCID iD

  • Areas of expertise and reviewing interests

  • Bank account information, if required and in accordance with the journal’s financial procedures

2. Accepting or Declining a Review Invitation

If a manuscript assigned to you falls outside your area of expertise or you do not have sufficient time to complete the review, please promptly decline the invitation through the journal’s submission system. If possible, we would appreciate it if you could recommend several alternative reviewers with relevant expertise to help minimize delays in the peer-review and publication process.

3. Completing the Review Form and Maintaining Confidentiality

Reviewers are requested to answer all questions in the review form and provide accurate, constructive, and well-supported comments on the manuscript.

If you insert comments or annotations into the manuscript using Microsoft Word, please ensure that your name and other identifying information are not visible in the comments or document metadata before submitting the reviewed file.

To change the user name in Microsoft Word, follow this path:

File → Options → General → Personalize your copy of Microsoft Office → User name

Change the user name in this section and check the file carefully to ensure that your identity is not disclosed in the comments or annotations.

4. Adherence to the Journal’s Publication Ethics

All reviewers are expected to read the section on Publication Ethics, particularly the duties and responsibilities of reviewers, available on the journal’s website.

Reviewers must adhere to the principles of professional ethics, confidentiality, impartiality, and the disclosure and avoidance of conflicts of interest throughout the peer-review process.

5. Recording Peer-Review Activities in Web of Science

Following the integration of Publons into Web of Science, reviewers who wish to have their peer-review activities recorded in their Web of Science profiles may forward the acknowledgment or thank-you email received from the journal after completing a review to the following address:

reviews@webofscience.com

Recording peer-review activities in this database can help reviewers document their scholarly contributions and professional activities.

We sincerely appreciate our reviewers’ valuable contributions to improving the academic quality of manuscripts and upholding the ethical standards of scholarly publishing.
